GIBA NEWS - Effective 11/17/16, the weight limit on the Gasparilla Island Bridge Authority swing bridge is 80,000 lbs. All large vehicles (dump trucks, tractor trailers with 3 or more axles, heavy commerical trucks and equipment) are required to be weighed on the GIBA truck scale which is open Monday-Friday from 5:45am to 5:45pm. Small two axle box trucks do not fall under this category. Large vehicles arriving outside of the posted hours will not be accomomodated. Vehicles weighing over 80,000 lbs. will not be permitted to cross the bridge. Questions: contact GIBA admin M-F 8am-4pm 941-697-2271.

The Boca Grande Swing Bridge is located in Placida, Florida. It is the only land link from Charlotte County to the three (3) barrier islands known as: North, Cole and Gasparilla Island. The Boca Grande Swing Bridge spans two 80-foot wide channels on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway at Placida Harbor. The GIBA took over operations of the bridge's causeway and toll system in 1998 and is a State of Florida Independent Special District.
